Welcome! Here is everything you need to know about having a bespoke piece handmade for you.
1. Your dream & your budget.
To begin, tell us about what you're looking for and your budget, by filling out our consultation form.
Have a think about / try to answer the following:
- Bespoke commissions take time!
We aim to have your piece completed within 4 weeks from when we receive your 50% deposit. It can take time to finalise your design, so the sooner we get started the better.
- We have a minimum starting price of €1,000 for bespoke.
- We use 750 gold (18 karats).
- What colour gold would you like?
- Do you want to use precious/semi-precious gemstones?
- Do you know the ring size?
If you are commissioning a ring, then of course it is best if we have an exact or estimated size to work from. However, we know that sometimes getting a ring size can be tricky. If the ring is for a significant other, you may have to get creative, and possibly enlist others' help, in getting this measurement.
We like this website for international ring size conversions, and we prefer to work from the internal diameter. If you have an existing ring that is the right size, then you can send us a photo of that ring placed on top of a ruler.
If you are unable to get an exact measurement, then don't worry - we can easily resize the ring later on.

2. Meet with us (free of charge).
Your initial consultation is complimentary and generally takes from 40 minutes to one hour. Here, we will discuss your initial ideas, measure/calculate your ring sizes (if applicable), and we will walk you through the process of creating your bespoke piece of jewellery.
We can also prepare a selection of gemstones and diamonds for you to view.
If you are not based in Berlin then we are happy to conduct a consultation and work with you over video-chat. We work with clients from all around the world.
3. Pay an initial 'commitment' deposit.
After your initial consultation, we will begin the design work. We will develop the concept and variations, and draw a scaled & rendered image. This can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days worth of work.
Accordingly, before we begin any design work, we require a €150 deposit from you as a sign of your commitment to going ahead. We accept bank transfer or cash. This deposit will of course be deducted from the total amount of the piece.
However, if you later decide not to proceed with the project, then this deposit is non-refundable.
4. Your design brief (including variations) & quotes.
We will present you with a design brief comprising the designs and variations for you to choose from (usually between 3-6 options). The brief will clearly set out the costs for each of the variations.
The designs will be set out in scaled specifications sheets and and rendered 3D-model drawings, so that you can clearly see every aspect and facet. The brief will also include images of the precious stones proposed, and any other details unique to your piece.
It is important to make sure that all of the details are correct before proceeding! Now is the time to request any changes to your design, and to come in to the studio to have a look (or second look) at the proposed stones.
If alterations to the designs are required, we will re-issue the drawings up to three times without any additional charges. After that, any changes or redrafts of
design will be charged at €40 p/h with a quote for time provided before any work
Please note that all images, designs and concepts remain copyright of Nathan Thomas. Copyright material is not to be reproduced or shared without express permission.
5. First 50% payment before production
If the design is agreed and you wish to go ahead with production, then we will issue you an invoice for the total amount.
We ask that you please pay 50% of the total amount upfront, less your commitment deposit.
Example: The total amount for your piece is €1.600 Euro, and you have already paid €150 as a commitment deposit. Therefore, you must pay €650 so that we can begin production (i.e. €800 - €150).
6. Start of production
Once we have received your 50% deposit, then we will begin making.
We aim to have your piece completed within 4 working weeks from the time we receive your 50% deposit. However please talk with us if you have important timing requirements and we will do our best to accommodate you.
There may sometimes be delays along the way that are out of our control, such as difficulties sourcing the perfect stone (they are all uniquely different, so it can be a literal treasure hunt), or due to holiday period closures.
We will try to send you photo and/or video updates of your piece in-progress, as we go.
7. Completion & final payment
When your piece is finished, we will notify you and make arrangements with you for delivery or pickup.
The final 50% payment is now due, and your piece must be paid for in full before we will release it to anyone.
8. Collection or delivery
We will invite you to collect your piece from the studio in person, if possible, or you may nominate someone to collect the piece on your behalf (e.g. perhaps someone in your network that you know and trust is travelling from Berlin to you around the relevant time).
If you are unable to collect your piece in person, then we will liaise with you about shipping.
While we will do our utmost to ensure that your piece arrives safely with you, we cannot be held responsible if there are any issues. You will be responsible for the costs of shipping your piece, and you bear the risks involved. We recommend you use an insured and tracked shipping method.
9. Ring resizing
For a ring that needs resizing, then we will happily do the first resize free of charge.
10. Lifetime warranty & Aftercare
All of our bespoke pieces come with a lifetime manufacturer's warranty.
